Boys' Crew Coach

Concord, MA

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Boys' Crew Coach to lead our ISL team to success both on and off the field. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of rowing, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to developing student-athletes. This position is responsible for overseeing multiple aspects of the boys' crew program, including strategy development, and athlete development. This role will be from end of March to end of May 2026, with the possibility of renewal in 2027.

Middlesex School is finishing off a new $50 million state of the art Field House that will open this summer. This amazing new facility will have a collegiate level Performance Center.  We want to build on this momentum and continue to build a roster that will enable us to elevate our programs further. Essential Job Functions:

  • Educates individuals, groups, or teams on the rules, strategies, and techniques for assigned athletics program.
  • Organizing and leading practice sessions.
  • Trains, encourages, and motivates athletes to prepare them for games and competitive events.
  • Teaches safety rules and regulations and ensures they are enforced.
  • Develops physical conditioning programs that equip athletes to meet their potential.
  • Evaluates team members to determine fitness levels and potential; coordinates with coaches on assigning positions or roles to athletes based on strengths and weaknesses.
  • Ensures athletes are using equipment properly and safely.
  • Identifies the strengths and weaknesses of athletes and modifies coaching strategies accordingly.
  • Remains current on changes in rules, coaching philosophies and techniques, and technology relevant to assigned athletics program.
  • Participates in the recruiting process through Admissions as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required education and experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience at collegiate level or higher in assigned athletics program.
  • Experience as a coach at High School level or higher in assigned athletics program.

Additional eligibility requirements

  • Able to successfully complete CHRI, CORI, and SORI checks.
