Coed Track & Field Assistant Coach
As the Assistant Coach, you will be responsible for overseeing assigned aspects of our Track & Field Program. Specific duties include teaching technique, running drills, modeling the philosophies and values associated with the program, building positive relationships with a roster of roughly 15-20 from grades 9-12, and supporting with meet and tournament management, both home and away, in a professional manner. Expertise in throwing events or horizontal jumps is a plus, but not required.
Essential functions

- Educates individuals, groups, or teams on the rules, strategies, and techniques for assigned athletics program.
- Assists head coach in organizing and leading practice sessions.
- Trains, encourages, and motivates athletes to prepare them for games and competitive events.
- Teaches safety rules and regulations and ensures they are enforced.
- Develops physical conditioning programs that equip athletes to meet their potential.
- Evaluates team members to determine fitness levels and potential; advises the head coach on assigning positions or roles to athletes based on strengths and weaknesses.
- Ensures athletes are using equipment properly and safely.
- Identifies the strengths and weaknesses of players and modifies coaching strategies accordingly.
- Remains current on changes in rules, coaching philosophies and techniques, and technology relevant to assigned athletics program.
- Other duties as assigned.

Work environment
- In a gymnasium, on a field, or other match and practice venue as defined by the assigned program.
Physical demands
- Remain standing for extended periods of time.
- Ability to go up and down flights of steps.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects.
- Ability to stoop, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds at a time without assistance.
- Ability to traverse various areas of the facility (including unpaved areas, dirt paths, uneven terrain, etc.) to conduct practice and attend competitions.
- Communication skills using the spoken word.
- Ability to see with normal parameters.
- Ability to hear within normal range.
Travel required
- Regional travel to away games within the New England market.
- May be required to travel to a national camp for your assigned sport.
Required education and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience at collegiate level or higher in assigned athletics program.
Additional eligibility requirements
- Able to successfully complete CHRI, CORI, and SORI checks.
